KCCDopen use
For student or employees, there is no special account required to use the KCCDopen Wi-Fi connection for Internet only access; simply use the same logon account that you use on your college assigned or lab computer preceded by "pc\" in the username field.
Visitors who wish to use the College's Wi-Fi service for Internet only access can go to the computer commons in the LRC to obtain a twenty-four hour login account. Visitor accounts automatically expire twenty-four hours after they are created. If extended time is needed for a Visitor account, exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis.
KCCDopen can be used on any 802.11b/g Wi-Fi enabled device (i.e., Laptop, PDA, Smartphone, etc.). To protect the college?s network from out of date virus protection and potentially harmful software, the KCCDopen Wi-Fi connection only allows internet access. It is still strongly recommended that your device have virus protection software installed and fully updated before attempting to connect to the network.
KCCDsecure use
The KCCDsecure Wi-Fi connection is for employees who have and use a college owned laptop or other 802.11b/g Wi-Fi enabled device and want to get their network file share drives and printer mappings as well as internet access. The process for getting setup to use the KCCDsecure Wi-Fi connection is a bit different from the KCCDopen Wi-Fi connection. First, the Wi-Fi enabled device must be managed and owned by the college (i.e., purchased with funding from within the district). (This does not include someone purchasing the equipment and then "donating" it to the college.) The device must be brought to the Technology Services office in the LRC where the device can be inventoried, have up-to-date virus protection installed, and be put in a special group on the network that will give it the rights to map the desired file share drives and printers. There will be no exceptions to this policy; the device must be college managed, owned, and brought to the Technology Services office in the LRC before it can be setup to access the KCCDsecure Wi-Fi connection.
