P071 –College for Kids - 2 credits
Prerequisite: Seventh/eighth grade enrollment in schools participating in the College for Kids Program.
Total lecture 36 hours, total laboratory 4 hours. This course is a general introduction to physical, life and social sciences, math, English, physical education and the vocations. Credits do not count toward the associate degree. Approved for credit/no-credit grading option. (See page 20 for details.)
P075 – Workforce Preparation - 14 credits
Prerequisite: None.
Total lecture 198 hours, total laboratory 144 hours. This course is designed to assist students who will be re-entering or initially entering the workforce, including updating skills in oral and written communication, reading, health and wellness, math, current events, personal development, career opportunities and related fields and information systems. This course is offered on a credit/no-credit basis. Credits do not count toward the associate degree.
P091—Tutor Training and Practicum - 0 credits
Prerequisite: Grade of “B” or better in area to be tutored and instructor’s recommendation.
Total laboratory 54 hours. This course is designed to assist students to understand the skills and processes required of a tutor.
P092—Supervised Tutoring - 0 credits
Prerequisite: None.
Total laboratory 18-72 hours. Students who enroll in this course receive tutorial services from peer tutors who work under the supervision of a faculty member in a designed learning center. The peer tutors are currently-enrolled students who have completed, with a grade of “B” or better, the course for which they are serving as tutors. The tutors are hired at the recommendation of faculty members in the discipline and are trained in effective tutoring methods.
P093—Learning Center Lab - 0 credits
Prerequisite: None.
Total laboratory 18-54 hours. This course provides instruction in reading, writing, and/or mathematics, through the use of instructional software, under the supervision of a faculty member in a designated computer lab.
