P102—Obstetrics - 2 1/2 credits

Prerequisite: L. V. N. or R. N. license.

Total lecture 45 hours. Focuses on nursing intervention in preventative, remedial, supportive, and teaching aspects of nursing in the obstetrics and newborn patient. A holistic, i.e., bio-psychosocial approach to nursing care is applied. Concepts of wellness are presented and these formulate a basis of departure from the study of illness. The nursing process provides a framework for nursing interventions presented throughout the course. Not open to students with credit in Nursing 2A. (A/CSU)
