Total lecture 36 hours. Lecture and hands-on format for applications of beginning keyboarding/ten-key on microcomputer keyboard and numeric ten-key pad using the touch system to build speed and accuracy. This course includes oral, written, and computer-assisted instructions on keyboarding techniques, basic formatting, proofreading, tabulating, centering, saving and naming a document, printing, and correct operation of the numeric ten-key pad. This course also provides classroom practice to complement the lecture class, giving students adequate opportunities to practice and apply the theories learned in the lecture class. Approved for credit/no-credit grading option. Not open to students with credit in Office Skills 1A-1 or Office Technology 1A or 1A-1, or P101A. (A/CSU)
P101B—Intermediate Keyboarding and Ten-Key Mastery - 1 credit
Prerequisite: Completion of Office Technology P101A (1A-1).
Total lecture 36 hours. Lecture and hands-on format for applications of intermediate keyboarding on microcomputers using the touch system to build speed and accuracy in document production, five-minute timed writings, and ten-key mastery. This course includes instruction on basic formatting of personal and business letters, memoranda, tables, manuscripts, reports, and proper ten-key techniques on the computer numeric ten-key pad. This course also provides classroom practice to complement the lecture class, giving students adequate opportunities to practice and apply the theories learned in the lecture class. Approved for credit/no-credit grading option. Not open to students with credit in Office Skills/Office Technology 1A, 1A-2 or P109. (A/CSU)
P105—Administrative Office Procedures - 3 credits

Total lecture 36 hours, total laboratory 54 hours. Comprehensive training in office procedures for secretarial and clerical level students drawing together training from other classes for practical application in problem solving situations. Requires competency in prerequisite class areas. Development of skills and personal attributes necessary for successful performance in the business world. P107—Records Management - 2 credits
Prerequisite: None.
Recommendation: Eligible for level 2 English placement and Office Technology P101A (1A-1).
Total lecture 36 hours. An introduction to records management, emphasizing principles and practices for manual and automated records systems. Emphasis is on the need to understand the record life cycle within which information functions in the organization. Also studied are other aspects of information technology, such as computer and word processing systems, microimage systems, and optical disks. A practice set of jobs is included. Some lab time will be required for the automated systems study. Not open to students with credit in Office Skills/Office Technology 3 or Office Technology 7. (A/CSU)
