V.  Reports

1. Senate President (C. Britton for B. Henry)

At previous Chancellor’s Cabinet:  concern was expressed that the Curriculum Committees on the three district campuses are becoming somewhat “autonomous” and have moved away from the senates.  No other issues were discussed.

Chancellor Serrano would like to have the new budget allocation model presented to the board of Trustees at the first meeting in March.  Work is continuing in gathering feedback for discussion by the budget committee on Feb. 14, 2007.

2. CCA (Regier)

CCA is still working on getting a few more signatures from adjunct so they can participate as part of the union.

3. Curriculum (Britton)

Curriculum should be reviewed on a regular basis.  The committee is currently listing courses that have not been recently reviewed.

Virginia, Miles and Craig, will rewrite the curriculum handbook to model the state handbook.

4. PC Foundation

    none

5. Division Reports

    none

VI.  Old Business

1.  Proposed Budget Allocation Model

Recommendations:

#1  A line should be added to campus allocations that gives each campus a specified amount for full-time instructional faculty positions (those that are used in the districts’ 50% calculation.)  This amount would be the difference between the adjunct rate and the amount paid to each full-time instructional faculty member.

#2. Ongoing commitment to a substantial amount of money to fund strategic initiatives and college autonomy once approved.

Other feedback from the Senate:  Because of our limited geographical area of service, we are limited in the population we serve and thereby limited in the FTES that we can generate.  Propose that we are allowed to teach classes at the Delano center and be allowed to keep the generated FTES, while paying a pro-rata share of the utilities for classroom usage.

Motion to accept the above recommendations -

M:  J. Wiens

S:  Maria Roman

C.  Unanimous

VII. New Business

The discussion of the Career Focus magazine and night services for students were tabled due to time.

VIII.  Adjournment:  5:15 PM
M: Susan Regier

Respectfully submitted
