D. Bezayiff has communicated with K. Weston (KCCD administrative assistant) about the PC Senate’s plans for 2005-2006.
2. CCA (Piersol)
Convocation on new faculty evaluation process is this Friday.
3. Curriculum Committee (Piersol)
Nothing new to report.
4. PC Foundation (Keele)
V. Gurrola has agreed to be director.
John Nash submitted a proposal that the PC foundation and Sierra View Hospital work together to fund himself in the grant writer position for three years. Salary $120,000 to be split between the college and hospital. He would like a committee formed on campus to direct his efforts. He has written grants in the past for the reservation and other freelance work.
A number of members of the PC foundation are also hospital board members.
5. Announcement by Y. Kim
There is a state budget workshop on September 16th 10:00 - 2:30 at Laney College in Oakland.
6. Length of Christmas Break. (Wiens)
Some faculty in the science math faculty would like to look into a shorter Christmas vacation. More response is needed from Science/Math faculty if they would like to change
7. Voting on District Mission Statement.
Three possibilities were provided for discussion. The Senate was told that they were the result of different committees and thus major revisions could not occur.
The Senate vote results were as follows:
1 for mission statement #1
6 for mission statement #2
0 for mission statement #3
M: P. Tanner moved to approve #2.
S: K. Cardell

It is recommended to the district that the last bullet (the one mentioning students) be moved up to be the first bullet. It was also agreed on that the first bullet sounded like something out of Microsoft corporation.
8. Modify One-Flex Day on 16 Week Calendar (Hathaway)

9. Disability Resource Center (Wilkins)
Present policy: If a student has two W’s or two F’s in a class, they cannot sign up for the class until the first day of class. This provides a way for others with lower priority status to enroll in the class without the same (higher priority) people taking available seats all the time.
New proposal – based on new information from the state, decisions like this should/could be made on a case by case basis.
It was mentioned that the faculty of record would like to be involved with this process rather than decisions resting entirely with disability resource faculty/personnel. In classes with waiting lists, professors would like to keep classes available to those with high probabilities for success. Collegial discussion and professorial input would be appreciated.
A vote on this change will occur later.
10. Report From Counseling (M. Herrera)
The counseling department is looking into revisions for matriculation. The original plan was written in 1990.A pilot study in informed self placement is occurring in mathematics this year.
Adjournment: At 5:05 PM
M: B. Henry
S: C. Wilkins
Respectfully submitted
