Head Coach: T.J. Jennings

(4th season)

2012 CVC Coach of the Year

T.J. Jennings is entering his fourth season at PC, as head men's basketball coach and an adjunct faculty member in the Physical Education and Fine & Applied Arts divisions.

During the 2011-12 season, Jennings guided the PC to its first winning season in more than a decade. The Pirates went 14-13 overall and 7-5 in the CVC. The second-place finish was also PC's best showing since 2001.

Jennings was voted 2012 CVC Coach of the Year - and earned the same honor at the 2012 PC Awards.

Jennings is a former assistant coach at Reedley College and Fresno Pacific University.

After two seasons (one recruiting class), Jennings quickly established a brand of exciting basketball, where his teams play hard together and compete with anyone. He has posted wins against ranked programs including Fresno, Yuba, Santa Rosa, San Diego, and Bakersfield.

In 2010-11, PC was able to double its win-total against the 10th-strongest schedule (of 92 teams) in California - where 15 of the 26 games were against ranked opponents. The Pirates averaged 76 points per game, ranking second in the Central Valley Conference.

In 2009-10, Jennings was recognized by the college with the "Community Outreach Award" for his outstanding service to the local area. Each Spring, he organizes a free basketball clinic for the Porterville Parks & Leisure Youth League players and coaches - and he often has his student-athletes participate in several charity events during the season.

After a successful playing career at Fresno Pacific University, where Jennings was named Academic All-American three times and Sunbird of the Year in 2004, he began coaching at his alma mater.

Jennings was an assistant coach for the FPU women’s team (2004-05) before spending a season at Riverdale High School coaching with a fellow graduate student.

More recently, Jennings spent two basketball seasons (2007-08 & 2008-09) as the women’s top assistant coach at Reedley College.

During the 2008-09 season, Jennings took over as interim head coach for a brief period as Dan Kilbert was on personal leave. Because of the team’s success under Jennings – posting a 4-1 record – the Central Valley Conference coaches named Reedley its “Coaching Staff of the Year.”

Jennings is employed at San Joaquin Valley College in Hanford as a general education instructor. He is also a former adjunct physical education instructor at West Hills College in Lemoore since 2006.

Jennings earned two bachelor degrees at Fresno Pacific University in business administration and communications. He obtained a master’s degree at FPU in kinesiology.

His father, Rick Jennings, was a return specialist for the Oakland Raiders – drafted in 1976, the season the franchise won its first Super Bowl.

Jennings and his wife, Gina, reside in Hanford.
