Head Coach: Vickie Dugan
(12th season)

Vickie
Dugan is entering her 12th season as Porterville College
women’s softball coach. Prior to her career at PC, Dugan was
the head coach at Oregon State University from 1988-1994.
She has the second-longest tenure in the history of OSU’s
softball program. Dugan landed her first college head
coaching position at Nebraska Wesleyan University. She was
also a graduate assistant at Utah State University.
For
the 2005-06 school year, Dugan’s PC team was recognized by
the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as an
All-Academic Team based on a cumulative grade-point average
of 2.71 – fourth highest in California.
Dugan
played college softball and volleyball at Fort Hays State
University in Kansas. The two-sport star was named one of
the “Outstanding College Athletes of America” following her
junior and senior seasons. She later became an instructor at
Western Nevada Community College, and for six years worked
as an activities director for National Camps for the Blind
in Utah. Her career also includes coaching at the high
school level and with several summer teams.
Dugan
graduated Magna Cum Laude while earning two bachelor’s
degrees (music; health/physical education and recreation) at
Fort Hays State University. The prestigious honors program
of “Who’s Who Among Students” recognized Dugan for her
outstanding scholastic achievements.
She
received a master’s degree in physical education from Utah
State University. Over the years, she has been invited to
speak to different organizations, including the American
Association of University Women and at the national meeting
for the Women’s Sports Foundation. Dugan, recognized at PC
with an Educator’s Award, currently teaches physical
education classes.

Six
Pirates Earn All-CVC Honors
Eric Mendoza, Athletic Director,
announced that six PC softball players were recognized on
the All CVC team for this season.
Monica Greenway, sophomore
catcher who hit .422 for average and had a .962 fielding
percentage, was a first team selection. She was also one of
just 6 players in the conference to be named to the NorCal
all-star ballot.
Kasey Nichols, a freshman
designated player, hit .393 and drove in 14 runs. She also
was named to the first team.
Kriston Gowan, an outfielder who
hit 3 homers in conference play, and Jennie Hatch, a
pitcher and infielder, with a .382 batting average, made the
second team.
Honorable mention honors went to
Jackie Decker, who had a perfect fielding percentage
and 14 stolen bases, and to Amanda Serda, pitcher
and infielder who registered a .340 batting average.
The Pirates had 19 wins and 28 losses
for the season and 7 wins 11 losses in CVC play.
