Partnering with Porterville Fire Department...
Porterville Fire Department recently completed construction of a new classroom facility at the drill grounds located behind their Fire Station #2 on Newcomb Street. In August 2010, the fire department facility became the new home of the Porterville College Fire Academies as well as the location of our Fire Tech Coordinator's office. The Roof Ventilation Prop is the first of many new training props that Porterville College and the Porterville Fire Department plan to build together .
The prop is is 32 feet wide and 96 feet long, and consists of four separate roof sections, each approximately 32 feet by 24 feet. Two sloped roofs and one flat roof are designed to be cut as part of the ventilation training conducted during our Firefighter 1 Academy. The second flat roof will not be cut, and will instead eventually hold examples of the various kinds of equipment, such as skylights and ventilators, typically found on the roofs of commercial buildings.
