1. In-class teaching/counseling/support services Fall 07 History 108 fieldtrip to Los Angeles County Art Museum, History 118 class fieldtrips Autry Museum of the West & Manzanar, History 120 fieldtrip to Fresno Islamic Cultural Center; Summer '07 (along with Dr. Keele's class) History 118 fieldtrip to Reagan Presidential Library; Spring '07 History 118 class fieldtrip to Manzanar and to the Reagan Presidential Library; Spring '07 History 108, 119 (online), & 123 fieldtrip to Los Angeles for Cinco de Mayo.
2. Curriculum review/development Current Projects for Spring '08: Prepare two new majors to replace Liberal Studies (Social Science-Education Emphasis & an a new Humanities major) Re-wrote Course Outlines for History 108, 117, 118, 119, 120 123 Developed new 118 online class incorporating podcasting-like audio files Continue to encourage and aid Social Science Division members to revise and submit updated course outlines
3. Education Research Activity I attended the (OAH) Organization of American Historians' inaugural Community College Workshop at El Camino College over June 21, 22, & 23, 2007. Topics included best practices, projects, and current issues of the profession at community colleges throughout California and neighboring states, especially underprepared students, effective use of online classes, utilizing historical resources in our communities and at historical museums/sites in Los Angeles (Japanese American Museum, the Autry National Center of the American West, and Queen Mary) and keeping current with history issues in four-year institutions. I continue to keep current with the profession through my membership in the OAH.
4. Community Work I prepared and gave a multimedia presentation during Fall '07 "GIs, Pachucos, & Braceros: Mexican Americans During World War II" as part of the CHAP 1940s program for '07-'08. Preparing CHAP presentation for Spring: "Spent Victory: The US & the Origins of the Cold War"
6. Recruitment of new student populations Participated as the only faculty member in Spring 07 high school student recruitment at Monache and Porterville High Career Days; Manned the Social Science Division table for most of the Fall 07 High School Visitation Day program.
7. On-Campus Committee Work Curriculum Committee from Feb '07 to present Student Learning Outcomes Committee from September '07 to present C.H.A.P. Committee (continuing)
10. On-Campus Activities Continuing participation in some of the Anthro Club's activities including the Death Valley trip in April '07.
