Mode A Faculty Evaluation-Accomplishments Spring, Summer, and Fall '06 – Jay J. Hargis 1. In-class teaching/counseling/support services Spring '06 118 class fieldtrips to Manzanar and to the Reagan Presidential Library; Spring '06 History 123 fieldtrip to Los Angeles for Cinco de Mayo; Fall '06 History 120 fieldtrip to Islamic Cultural Center, Fresno; Fall '06 History 108/119 classes fieldtrip to Olvera Street for Day of the Dead; Fall '06 History 118 class fieldtrips to to Dust Bowl celebration in Weedpatch and to the Nixon Presidential Library. 2. Curriculum review/development I continue to update my instructor webpage (www.portervillecollege.edu/hargis) and create and or revise class webpages. Since the Fall 05 evaluation, I have revised History 108, 117, and 118 webpages, and created new ones for History 119, 120, and 123 in FrontPage and as well as a "what's up? class announcements page. I revised my online 117 class from Blackboard to ETUDES-ng and am working on presenting History 119 (as a new online class for Spring '07; revised History 117 to meet online mediated teaching requirements; completely revised the course description, content, and subtitle for Hist. 119 (Mexican American History); and revised course description, content, and subtitle for History 120 (History of the Middle East) Completed the 2006 Program Review for History 4, Community work I prepared and gave a multimedia presentation during Spring '06's Women's History Month on "Ida Wells & Her Anti-lynching Campaign;" working on "Racist Images of African Americans From Popular Culture" power point presentation for 2007 Black History Month 6. Recruitment of new student populations In preparation for the 2006 High School Senior Day, I prepared the Social Science Division brochure to introduce the different disciplines and courses offered by the Division. Assisted in manning the Social Science Division table to recruit students for next year. 7. On-campus committee work As a member of CHAP I helped plan, participate, and promote last year's emphasis on the Japanese Internment at Manzanar, and am working on this year's planned programs for delving into the 1930s, including work on the CHAP website. |
