Summer 2009 History Classes

ATTENTION SUMMER HISTORY STUDENTS:

Professor Hargis is teaching online from Mexico again this summer.  If you need to contact him, follow the protocol given in the online class syllabus:  private message within Etudes first, then email my college address, then if in a real emergency (and late work excuses do not make an emergency), call him via his SKYPE number (which is a local call from Porterville) (559) 576-5756.  Just remember that it may take up to 24 hours for him to respond to your message.  Technical Support is available on campus (see the class syllabus for details).

Please Note the Following:

1  These are 8-Week Classes - They run from 6/15-8/7.  You will be able to access the class about 4-5 days before the class begins to become familiar with the Etudes class structure, to read the syllabus, and to start on the first few modules early.

2.  Read the Online Class Questions Below - Online classes are NOT easier.  Understand that you are going to have to do lots of reading and writing in half the time of regular 16-week classes.  Plan on spending at least 12-15 hours per week on each class during the summer if you are willing to work for a good grade.

3.  Questions About Class Texts - Contact the College Bookstore (you must use the assigned editions-NO previous editions!  And yes, you will need the books when the class begins - so plan ahead and get them before the class begins!  Not having any books is NOT an acceptable excuse.

4.  The Keys to Being Successful - Establish a regular schedule for reading, researching, writing, and posting assignments and discussions, AND always do more than the minimum (which is a C-).  Remember, Ds are not acceptable grades for transfer or graduation any more.

5.  Have a Successful Summer!
