How do I become a student at Porterville College?
- Application for Admission
New students must submit an admission form their first term of enrollment. Students may complete this form on-line by accessing the "My BanWeb" or "Application" links on the PC home page. Once you are on the "My BanWeb" page click on the link: "Submit an Admission or Update Form"
Returning and continuing students must complete the “Update” form.
These forms are also available in the Admissions and Records office.
- Assessment
Assessment testing is used to measure mathematics, reading, and writing skills in order to assist you and your counselor in selecting the most appropriate courses for your skill level. It is strongly recommended that students whose primary language is not English attend an English as a Foreign Language assessment session.
- Orientation
Orientation is a session which reviews important information about Porterville College registration procedures, deadlines, financial aid, on-campus resources, transfer requirements and course placement.
- Academic Advising
A counselor will help you develop an educational plan to achieve your educational and personal goals. You will be assisted in scheduling courses and answering any questions you may have about graduation or transfer requirements.
- Register for Classes
New students can register at any time during open registration after completing an admission form.(#1) However, students who do not complete Orientation (#3), Assessment (#2), and Academic Advising (#4) will receive a low priority registration day/time in future registration cycles.
- Attend Classes
An instructor may drop registered students from class due to non-attendance the first and/or second class meeting. If you register onto a waiting list and do not attend that class the first day, you will be dropped from the wait list. Student who wish to appeal assessment, orientation, academic advising requirement, or to request an alternative matriculation process must contact the counseling office at 791-2329 or 791- 3663.
