Athletics and Physical Education

Porterville College provides a comprehensive program of competitive athletics for both men and women students. A stadium, playing fields, large gymnasium and tennis courts, are available.

Learning Center

The Learning Center, located in the Library (LMC), offers individualized programs in English, math, reading, vocabulary, and various learning skills. Flexible scheduling allows students to use the center almost any time their schedules will permit.

Tutorial Services

Tutors are available to at no cost to students who feel a need for assistance. Appointments with tutors may be made in the Learning Center located in the LMC.

Veteran’s Education

PC is approved for the education of veterans eligible for educational benefits. Therefore, it will qualify veterans in attendance to draw education subsidy and subsistence benefits under either state or federal laws. The veterans advisor, located in AC-126, will evaluate incoming transcripts to determine the amount of credit granted and provide benefits assistance.

Library

Over 30,000 books and other materials are housed in the Library Media Center which is kept open for evening study. Services to students include computer search assistance and reference help. Typewriters and computers, CD’s, media playback equipment, and photocopying machines are available for student use in the LMC.

Looking for a Career in Education?

California Mini-Corps is a statewide categorical services program with the primary objectives to provide direct instructional services to migrant children, and to prepare qualified college students for a career as a bilingual educator. The program serves as a support system by providing hands-on experience in the classroom and training via workshops. For more information, stop by the office in the Academic Center-126, or call 791-2300.
