Porterville College’s Cultural Historical Awareness Program (C.H.A.P.) will begin its spring schedule at 7 p.m. on Feb. 7 in the PC Theater with “Moving On: What to Expect When You Transfer to a Four-Year University” by Dr. Jeff Yoshimi, Associate Professor of Philosophy and Cognitive Science, University of California, Merced and Jose Rodarte, a UC Merced student.
If you have ever been nervous about the idea of leaving community college and transferring to a four year institution, this is a talk that you need to attend. Jeff Yoshimi and Jose Rodarte, both of whom attended community colleges and subsequently transferred to a UC campus, describe what's involved in the process of transfer. Dr. Yoshimi is currently a professor at UC Merced, and has done research on the topic of community college transfer. Rodarte is a currently a student and tour guide at UC Merced. They will provide insights into the process of transitioning to a 4-year university, and will describe what life will be like for you once you leave Porterville College
