Porterville College, the San Joaquin Valley Writing Project (Fresno State), and California Poets in the Schools invite Porterville-area 7-12 grade Teachers and Students to register today for the Porterville Summer Writing Academy (PSWA).
Teachers from all content areas are invited to spend two weeks (22 July – 1 August, 9am-4pm) on the Porterville College campus working with San Joaquin Valley Writing Project Teacher Leaders exploring the teaching of argument writing in alignment with the Common Core Standards.
WHEN: July 22-August 1 (Mon-Thurs)
COST: FREE + Teachers who complete the two-week institute will receive a $200 stipend and the opportunity to purchase 3.0 graduate units (Fresno State).

Students entering grades 7-first year of college are invited to participate in a one-week intensive writing experience co-led by San Joaquin Valley Writing Project Teacher Leaders, Porterville College Writing Instructors, and teachers participating in the two-week PSWA. The focus will be on argument writing, with opportunities for creative projects as well.
