Title of workshop: "Give More": The Value of Community Service for Returning Veterans
Presented by Virginia Osborne, MSW, LCSW
After deployment, members of the U.S. armed forces often return home with impressive skillsets and a desire to help others, but many individuals lack the sense of purpose that the military provided. Serving in a volunteer capacity can be a mechanism that not only improves the community in which a veteran lives, but also has therapeutic value and can provide opportunities for the returning vet to reconnect with society. This talk will focus on the many benefits of volunteer service for those who are transitioning from the military to civilian life.
Limited seats will be available.
Porterville College will have a Veterans Appreciation Week from November 7-14. Those with questions about any of these events can call 559-791-2332.
