Spring 2015 Community Education Schedule

Don’t miss out!   There is still time to register for a Porterville College Community Education course. Community Education courses are designed to meet the needs of the community. These non-credit courses are designed to provide learning and enjoyment in a friendly, worry-free environment at a reasonable cost.

Current spring offerings include: Exercise for the Community, Fireline Safety for Hired Vendors, Notary Public and Intro to Yoga. Pre-registration is required for all classes.

Exercise for the Community

Exercise for the Community takes place now through May 15, Mondays through Thursdays from 7-8 a.m. and 8-9 a.m. in Rm. FIT 751 in the Fitness Center. Cost is $80 per person. Join at any time. Cost of class is not pro-rated.

Notary Public

Whether you are a New Commission or Renewal, PC is offering its Notary Public course. Notary Public will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for New Commissions and from 12:15 to 4 p.m. for Renewal Commission Feb. 6 in AC 107.State exam will follow. Class fee is $70; material fee is $45 payable to instructor. You will also need to bring a $40 check or money order to class made payable to “Secretary of State.” Notaries who are being re-commissioned may arrive at 8 a.m. and sit in on the entire course. No late arrivals will be allowed.

Introduction to Yoga

Find your form in the beginner friendlyIntroduction to Yoga class being offered from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from Feb. 23 through March 18 in FIT 744. Cost for the entire course is $55 (eight sessions for less than $7 each). Students will learn to perform simple flow sequences to safely increase flexibility, improve balance and gain muscle strength. Students will need to bring a yoga block and mat to class.

Fireline Safety for Hired Vendors

Fireline Safety for Hired Vendors will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 14, 21, 28, and April 11 and 25 in SM 102. Cost: $70 per person. The PC Fire Technology Department, the U.S. Forest Service and CAL FIRE will offer this one- day training that is required annually for operators of privately-owned equipment used to respond to active wild land fires. Pre-registration/payment required. No walk-ins will be accepted. Class size is limited.
