PC Offering Free Business Start-up Workshop Series

Steps to Business, Start-Up workshop series

The Porterville College Job, Entrepreneur and Career Center (J.E.C.) invites the public to attend a free workshop series titled “Steps to Business: Start- up Series” April 10, 17 & 24 at Porterville College, Room CT 1301. Parking is free during the event.

The series includes four modules covering the basics of starting your own business from 8:30- 11:30 a.m. April 10 and 17 and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 24. The April 24 workshop will consist of a special luncheon and tour of local businesses. Space is limited for these events so attendees must RSVP to take part in this portion of the series in addition to RSVPing for the April 10 and 17 workshops.

Topics covered in the workshop series are as follow:

  • Module One: The Entrepreneurial Life - First steps to starting your own business
  • Module Two: The Business Plan: A Road Map to Success- Learn how to prepare a
  • business plan
  • Module Three: Financial Statements- A look at the most commonly used financial documents
  • Module Four: Financing Sources - How to fund your small business startup

Presenters will include Jay Thompson - Business Consultant, for SBDC and Jason Ridenour, Development Associate for the City of Porterville. A special thank you to our community partners John Corkins and Gary Reed.
