PC Scholarship Matching Campaign now open

Porterville - The Porterville College Foundation (PCF) is pleased to announce the opening of an Endowed Scholarship Matching Campaign. The PC Foundation is making available $25,000 to current and future donors with three options for matching contributions, from now until May 15. This campaign will increase the number of endowed scholarships to benefit students attending Porterville College and/or transferring to a four-year university. 

Donors may develop a new endowed scholarship, convert an annual scholarship to an endowed scholarship or increase the amount of an existing endowed scholarship. 

1) Develop a new endowed scholarship ($3,000 minimum). The minimum amount required to create an endowed scholarship with the Porterville College Foundation is $6,000. If an individual, family, or group contributes $3,000, the matching program would double their contribution, resulting in an endowed status. 

2) Convert an annual scholarship to an endowed scholarship ($3,000 minimum). An existing current annual scholarship donor could convert their annual scholarship into an endowed, and never have to worry about where the funds for the scholarship will come from again. Granted, a $6,000 endowed scholarship will not produce $1,000 each year, but it will ensure that the family will assist PC students in perpetuity. If they wish to add to the endowment over time, they may. 

3) Increase the amount of an existing endowed scholarship ($1,000 minimum). Existing endowed scholarship donors would be able to receive matching funds to increase their scholarship to help it generate enough investment income to pay out a scholarship each year. If a donor selects this option, they must increase their scholarship in $2,000 increments ($1,000 from donor and $1,000 from the matching funds). The Foundation’s match would be a maximum of $3,000. 

The campaign is open to anyone wishing to participate, however, due to the funding cap ($25,000), it will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. The A Campus of Kern Community College District 

campaign will close May 15, 2015. Applications accompanied by a check will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. 

Checks should be made payable and mailed to: Porterville College Foundation, 100 E. College Avenue, Porterville, CA 93257. All donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be furnished. The Porterville College Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
