Porterville College will host a special, fall registration event on Aug. 4 at PC. Those looking to finish registering for college can attend the become a “Pirate in a Day” event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room AC-126. The event gives those who have completed the online admission application/update and assessment testing, the opportunity to finish the entire matriculation process in one visit.
“We are aware that students are limited on time and we are sensitive to the fact that the matriculation process can be intimidating,” Vice President of Student Services, Val Garcia said. “So, we will try and walk each person through the matriculation process one step at a time so that students can begin their post-secondary journey at an institution that is focused on students’ needs and honored to serve the educational needs of the community."
Attendees will complete the PC online orientation, meet with a counselor and create a Student Educational Plan (if they have not done so already), as well as complete an Extended Opportunity Program & Services (EOPS) application. If students have not taken the assessment test they may call (559) 791-2329 to schedule a test on Aug. 4. Testing will be available from 8-10 a.m. Staff will also be available the entire day to help students register for fall 2015 classes.
“The Porterville College mission opens with the statement: ‘with students as our focus.’ This statement frames the direction and vision of each of the services we provide here at PC,” Garcia said. “ The become a Pirate in a Day event is our attempt to provide potential students with an opportunity to take care of all of their admissions needs in one day.”
The Pirate in a Day event is by RSVP only. Students can reserve their space by calling (559) 791-2270.
