Porterville- Porterville College is inviting the public to participate in “Opening the College Door: A College Transition Workshop” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 at Porterville College.
The transition from school to adulthood is pivotal in the lives of all students. For a student with a disability, the transition from high school to the world of adulthood can seem overwhelming. However, with thoughtful planning, this transition can lead to postsecondary opportunities and meaningful employment.
This FREE conference will provide information and resources about community college and support services for students with learning and other disabilities. Presentations will focus on using technology to improve executive functioning, increasing campus social connections, the importance of self-advocacy, and planning the transition from high school to college.
Parents, young adults, college faculty, high school teachers and service providers should attend. Registration will be available Nov. 13 at www.portervillecollege.edu.
Porterville College is located at 100 East College Avenue in Porterville. For more information call (559) 791-2200 or visit www.portervillecollege.edu.
