J.E.C. Offering Free, Public Workshops in March

March Free Public Workshop Schedule

The Porterville College Job, Entrepreneur, and Career (J.E.C.) Center invites the public to attend their free, career and wellness development workshops being held at Porterville College in March.

Upcoming public workshops include:

March 1 - “Major and Career Exploration, Ag and Industrial Technology,” 10-11 a.m. in HC-2061. Interested in pursuing a degree in an agriculture or industrial technology related field? We’ll show you the programs available, and what you need to apply.

March 3 - “Career Readiness,” 9-10 a.m. in HC-2061. What does it take to turn a degree into a career? Let the JEC show you how to go step by step, from picking a major to earning a degree, and then finding that perfect job.

March 7 - “Cash Course: Money Management,” 1-2 p.m. in AC-121. Learn how to navigate the confusing world of money management and how to use it responsibly. 

March 7 - “Major and Career Exploration, Administrative Justice and Fire Technology,” 4-5 p.m. in SM-102. Interested in pursuing a degree in a law enforcement or fire technology related field? We’ll show you the programs available, and what you need to apply.

March 9 - “Resume Tips and Tricks,” 4-5 p.m. in Computer Commons A. Take your resume to the next level. We’ll show you how to create a resume that will stand out among the crowd.  Prior registration for the workshop is required. Call (559) 791-2216 to reserve your spot today!

March 14 - “Career Cafe,” provided by PC Student Services from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in AC-121. Learn how to identify possible career paths in our Career Café.

March 15 - “Major and Career Exploration, Early Childhood and Education,” 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.  in HC-2061. Interested in pursuing a degree in an early childhood or education related field? We’ll show you the programs available, and what you need to apply.

March 16 - “Living in the Community,” provided by PC Student Services from 10-11 a.m. in FA-101. Learn the value of getting involved in a community. We will discuss positive ways of finding a sense of belonging by creating a community where everyone feels welcome.

March 17- “Starting a Franchise,” 10-11 a.m. in HC-2061. Learn everything you need to start a franchise with Sunny Basra from Basra Enterprises Inc.

March 17 - “Mental and Emotional Wellbeing,” provided by PC Student Services from 3-4 p.m. in LIB-449. Being a student can be stressful, let Student Services provide you tips on how to maintain mental and emotional wellbeing.

March 28 - “How to Start a Small Business,” 2-3 p.m.  in the Student Center Conference Room with Jay Thompson, SBDC Consultant and Lisa M. Hollingshead

President of the Business Finance Center. Join us for a networking lunch, learn about the steps to starting your business and how to secure funding. Prior registration for the lunch is required. Call (559) 791-2441 to reserve your spot today!

March 29 - “Communication in Intimate Relationships,” provided by PC Student Services from 5-6:30 p.m. in TI-3. Communication is important, especially to those around us the most. We’ll teach you the basics when it comes to improving your communication skills. 

March 30 - “Living a Healthy Lifestyle,” provided by PC Student Services from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in FA-101. Being a student can be stressful, let Student Services provide you tips on how to live a healthy lifestyle.

March 31 - “Student Wellness,” provided by Student Services from 3-4 p.m. in LIB-449. Learn the basics of student wellness to ensure student success.

The J.E.C. Center at Porterville College provides personalized services and programs. Whether you need help choosing major, exploring careers, starting your own business, or developing a resume, J.E.C. staff is here to help you make the necessary preparations to achieve your goals and to ensure a successful transition from academic life to the working world.

More workshops will be offered throughout the spring semester. Workshops are FREE and open to the public. Parking permits will not being required during the workshops.
