The Fire Technology Department of Porterville College in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service and CAL FIRE is happy to announce that registration is now open for the upcoming Fireline Safety Awareness for Hired Vendors courses at Porterville College. The courses will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 2, 16 and 30 in SM102 at Porterville College. Cost is $70.
These one-day trainings are required annually for operators of privately-owned equipment contracted to respond to active wildland fires with the State of California (CAL FIRE) and/or the United States Forest Service. Registration and payment, which will only be accepted online or in person, must be received by 5:00 p.m. the Wednesday before the class. No walk-ins will be accepted. Class size is limited and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students must bring photo ID and be present the entire length of the class and pass the required Fire Shelter Skill in order to receive the certificate of completion. Registration is limited to the first 80 individuals.
