The Porterville Rotary Club, the American Legion and the Porterville College Veterans Center have teamed up to host the PC Veterans Memorial Run. The race will fund a special veteran’s memorial at the college. The event on April 2 will feature a 5K/10K race where participants can run, walk or roll their way to the finish line through the beautiful, hillside orchards just east of the college. Start time is 8 a.m. and check in will take place from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. at L.B. Hill School, 1051 S. Plano St.

A kick-off spaghetti and meatball dinner given by the American Legion will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 1 at the Porterville Veterans Memorial Building. Dinners are $13. The Porterville College Veteran’s Memorial will be constructed under the beautiful cypress trees near campus center. The memorial will reflect all branches of service, host a memorial with a single flag pole along with beautiful shrubbery and lighting to compliment. Veterans who may purchase, or family member(s) may purchase on their behalf, a tile or brick inlay with their name, branch of service and dates of duty. Proceeds from the inlay sales.
