Sports Update November

PC Pirate Sports Update
Oct 31-Nov 13, 2016
Men’s and Women’s Basketball seasons have begun, and Women’s Volleyball has come to an end for 2016.

Volleyball (10-15, 7-9 CVC):  Our volleyball team more than tripled their number of wins this season.  The squad showed resiliency and a marked improvement in skill and effort this season.  Coach Holly Franks did an outstanding job in her second year at the helm.  We have 8 players who have finished their careers at PC: Callie Albison, Heidy Benitez, Gretchen Doyel, Kendyl Estes, Venesa Gutierrez, Josie Lopez, Brandy Rico and Shelby Vanasen.  We wish them all best of luck in their future.  We will post updates as they begin to make their transfer decisions.

Men’s Basketball (1-4, 0-0 CVC): After a rough start against San Jose City, the Men’s Basketball team has been extremely competitive in all of their games.  3 of their 4 losses have been against ranked opponents.  The team is led in scoring by Malik McCowan (16 ppg) and Carlos Angel (11.4 ppg).

Women’s Basketball (0-2, 0-0 CVC): The women’s team also had a rough opening game, but showed a much more competitive effort in their 2nd game.  With several new players, the team is finding its identity.  Denisheun Jackson and Lauren Beath are leading the way for the team.
