Baseball has begun playing games, while softball waits for the weather to improve. CVC play for men’s and women’s basketball is entering the home stretch.
Men’s Basketball (8-13, 5-3 CVC): The men’s basketball team is tied for 2nd place in the CVC conference after two impressive wins at home. The team defeated Merced, ranked 20th in the state, followed by a buzzer-beating victory over West Hills Coalinga. With 6 games to go, this team is in the hunt for the playoffs. Malik McCowan leads the Pirates with 17.4 points per game.
Women’s Basketball (4-17, 1-6 CVC): The injury bug continues to plague the women’s team. They have been forced to play with 5 players for the last 2 weeks, but have shown toughness and grit in every game. Sophomore Dee Jackson leads the CVC in scoring at 20.5 points per game.
Baseball (1-3, 0-0 CVC): Baseball opened with a tough series against Lassen, but bounced back with a 3-1 victory at Antelope Valley. Sophomore Joshua Sudsbury pitched 6 strong innings for the win.
Softball (0-0, 0-0 CVC): Softball’s opening weekend was cancelled due to weather and poor field conditions. Weather-permitting, they hope to start playing games this weekend.
