The Porterville College commencement ceremony is held once a year in May at the end of the Spring Semester, although we have three degree granting periods. Students do not have to participate to receive a degree or diploma.
All students who complete a degree in either Fall or Spring of that academic year are eligible to participate. Students must have submitted a Degree Evaluation Petition to the Admissions & Records Office by the posted deadline. Participation in commencement does not guarantee a degree. A final evaluation is done prior to the posting of degrees. It will take approximately two months for the diplomas to be printed although student records are posted sooner.
Candidates will receive a letter in the mail with commencement information. A name card will be enclosed for candidates to take to practice and the Friday night ceremony. The name card will display the name, degree and major as it will be printed on the diploma and the commencement program. If the candidates have any questions regarding their major or name on the diploma they are to go to Admissions and Records.
Tickets are not required for graduation and candidates can invite as many people as they wish.
Information to be announced.
Diplomas will not be handed out at the ceremony.
Candidates will assemble at 6:30 pm at the North-East gate of Jamison Stadium. Come with your cap, gown and name card. Your name card will be handed to the Dean announcing your name to the attendees. Balloons are not allowed to be carried by candidates. Water is not provided.
Please be sure to wear appropriate shoes for the all-weather track; NO spike heels.
The graduation regalia may be purchased in the Porterville College Bookstore. Everything has been ordered and will be waiting for you to pay and pick up. They will not be available until two weeks before commencement. Participants must wear the regalia currently purchased at the PC Bookstore. The fee for the regalia is approximately $40. They also sell invitations for $1.25 each or four for $5.00. (Price subject to change.)
If you are a military veteran, you will be given a “Veteran’s Rope” to wear with your academic regalia. Please see the Veterans Resource Center (AC-116) to find out how to receive your veterans rope.
