Questions that Porterville College students often ask... and the answers.
If you don't find the answer you are looking for here, you can "Ask a Counselor" ...
For most classes, it is the end of the second week of the term. There may be some exceptions to this depending on the course and instructor.
This means that you either have not completed the prerequisite for the class, or did not receive an appropriate score that is required for that class on the assessment test. Check with a counselor to determine what the reason for the hold is.
That means you have exceeded the number of times you can repeat the class. Therefore, you cannot enroll into the class again.
The last day to drop a class with a "W" grade is the 60% date. Check the academic calendar for that specific date. The last day to drop a class and still be able to receive a refund is the 10% date.
Yes, if you drop by the 10% date. Check the academic calendar for the 10% date.
You must pay within 10 days of enrolling into the class or you risk being dropped from the course.
In most cases, you will be dropped from your class after 10 days of non-payment or a hold placed on your records for a delinquent payment.
Go to the college website at www.portervillecollege.edu, click on the "InsidePC" button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Login with your student email and password. "W" grades are not factored into your grade point average.
No. The admissions decisions for most institutions are centered on your units completed, GE/prerequisites completed and your cumulative grade point average. So receiving "W" grades generally does not impact their decision to accept you or not.
Keep checking back with your instructor. If you are still unsuccessful in getting your instructor to drop you let a counselor or A/R staff person know in case they may be able to contact the instructor on your behalf.
