Porterville College recently concluded a week of vibrant events in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and HSI Week. Sponsored by PC Student Life, the festivities celebrated the rich culture and achievements of the Hispanic community and PC's status as a Hispanic Serving Institution.

The week kicked off with a festive Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off event in the quad. On September 15th, the campus was filled with the sounds of mariachi music, as students enjoyed tacos and had fun posing for photos in a special photo booth. The event created a lively and celebratory atmosphere for everyone.

The next day, students had a unique opportunity at Popcorn with the Presidents, to ask Interim PC President Primavera Monarrez and ASPC President Isaac Juarez questions as they handed out free popcorn between classes.

On September 17th, the college hosted the HSI Proud Event, a special occasion to celebrate PC's status as a Hispanic Serving Institution. The gathering in the quad honored the college's Hispanic students and its many first-generation students, acknowledging their hard work and contributions to the campus community. As an activity, the students were asked to share what Hispanic Heritage meant to them and to add those thoughts to our community board.

The week of festivities concluded on September 18th with Conchas y Comunidad. Students were invited to the quad to enjoy free conchas and coffee, where they were able to mix and mingle with friends and enjoy a sweet end to a week full of celebration.

These successful celebrations brought the Porterville College community together to share Hispanic culture and heritage, fostering a greater sense of community and pride on campus.
