PC Jumpstart Program Inspires

Porterville College celebrated the culmination of its annual Summer Jumpstart Program, a four-week, project-based internship that gives motivated high school juniors a hands-on introduction to college-level coursework and in-demand careers.
This year's program, which is a collaboration between Porterville College, College of the Sequoias (COS), and West Hills College Lemoore, offered dynamic courses in Fundamentals of Culinary Arts, Drone Piloting, and Pre-First Responder Training. Over the past four years, the Jumpstart program has provided students with valuable experience, allowing them to earn certifications or licenses in their chosen field.
During the final day of the program, PC Interim President Primavera Monarrez visited the Culinary, Business, and Pre-First Responder closing sessions. She stated, "It was truly incredible to witness the students' excitement and pride as they completed their summer experience. I was able to congratulate them personally and see their enthusiasm for learning firsthand."
The Summer Jumpstart Program is a powerful example of how hands-on learning can inspire young people and give them a head start on their future. Congratulations to the Porterville College faculty and staff who made this transformative experience possible. Not only did these students leave inspired, but more prepared for their futures!
