Modern Police Science (AS)
The Associate in Science in Modern Police Science is designed to fulfill a portion of the state requirements for future employment as a full time, sworn peace officer, while preparing students to continue studies toward a B.A. or B.S. degree in a discipline of their choosing.
Students who pursue a Modern Police Science degree enjoy a wealth of career options in the field of law enforcement. They work in multiple areas including patrol, detectives, S.W.A.T., narcotics, reserves, K-9 handler, traffic, and more. Program Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the program, students will be able to Identify the procedures involved in the American justice system from arrest to release; Analyze the importance of the inter-cooperation between courts, corrections, and law enforcement within the American justice system; Demonstrate critical thinking skills and cultural awareness through the scholarly analysis of important periods in American history; Analyze organizational and institutional ethics within the American justice system, especially as they pertain to modern policing.
