Student Stories
"In the next few years, I would like to complete my Bachelor's Degree and begin my
career in teaching. I was drawn to teaching because I want to make a difference in
students' lives. In the fall of 2021, I will be transferring to California State University,
Bakersfield to complete my degree. In EDUC P110, I learned teaching strategies, classroom
management, how to accommodate English Language Learners, and much more. I found this
information useful and cannot wait to use it in the classroom. Dr. Pengilly did a
wonderful job preparing me and providing me with resources that will assist me in
my future teaching. The Education Careers workshops helped me by providing me with
information that I can use in the future that I may not have gotten if I had not attended."

"My long-term career goal is to teach Music at the middle school level. Dr. Michelle
Pengilly and her instruction is allowing me to develop the skills to be an effective
teacher in the near future. The Education Careers Program at Porterville College is
giving me the opportunity to give back to my community by supporting me through my
education career path."
