Baseball/Softball Start the Season off with wins!

The Porterville College baseball team christened their new field last week with a 5-3 win over Rio Hondo on Friday, January 23rd. Louie Torres picked up the win for the Pirates, throwing six solid innings, giving up one run on three hits, while striking out 5. At the plate, PC was led by Josh Myers, who went 2 for 3 with a home run, double and 2 RBI, Zayne Thornton who had two hits and two RBI and Chris Blanco, who was 3 for 3 with an RBI. Alex Orozco gave up three hits while striking out two to pick up the save for the Pirates in three innings of relief.

On Saturday, the Pirates split a doubleheader with Diablo Valley. In game one, the Vikings offense exploded for thirteen runs on ten hits against four Pirate pitchers. Colton Isom took the loss for PC.

The Porterville offense was led by Josh Myers who was 1 for 4 at the plate with a grand slam, Leandro Lopez who went 3 for 4 with an RBI while Zayne Thornton also picked up an RBI.

In game two on Saturday, Porterville bounced back with a 3-0 win. Chris Blanco went the distance on the mound, picking up the win, allowing no runs on four hits. At the plate, Josh Myers continued his home run streak going 2 for 3 with a home run, his third of the season.

The Pirates will be home on Saturday, January 31 for a double-header vs Barstow College. Game one is scheduled for 11:00 AM with game two at 2:00 PM

The PC softball team opened the season on their new field with a 12-2 pounding of Allan Hancock.

Alexandria Andrighetto threw six innings, giving up two runs on one hit to pick up the win, while going 1 for 3 at the plate with an RBI. Elli John was 3 for 4 with two RBI, Morgynn Wylie was one for three with 3 RBI, Areil Martinez was 1 for 1 with 2 RBI to lead PC offensively.
