Porterville College is officially launching its PC JumpStart program for the summer, giving local high school students an exclusive, hands-on look at high-demand regional career pathways. This immersive, four-week project-based internship program is designed specifically for Central Valley high school juniors. Running on the PC campus through August, the academy aims to spark an early interest in higher education while arming students with practical knowledge, industry certifications, and clear blueprints for their future careers.

Building on the success of past cohorts, this year’s program features an exciting mix of brand-new opportunities and returning favorites. Making its debut this summer is the New Agriculture Academy, which connects students directly with one of the Central Valley’s leading industries to explore modern agricultural practices and career opportunities.

The highly reviewed Drone Academy also returns, preparing students for the future of aviation and technology by focusing on the skills needed for FAA Part 107 drone pilot operations.

Additionally, the Business Academy is back to help the next generation of entrepreneurs master essential regional business practices, project management, and leadership skills. Finally, the Pre-First Responders Academy returns for another impactful year, offering hands-on first aid and health training alongside exclusive insider industry tours for students eyeing careers in emergency services.

This immersive summer camp is made possible through a robust regional partnership between Porterville College, West Hills College Lemoore, College of the Sequoias, and Reedley College. By pooling resources and regional expertise, these institutions are creating a direct pipeline from Central Valley high schools straight into thriving local industries.

Stay tuned for updates throughout July as our academy students dive into their projects, earn certifications, and take their first major steps toward college and career success.
