Celebrating Success: PC Jumpstart Wraps Up Another Unforgettable Summer

This week, Porterville College celebrated the successful conclusion of another inspiring summer with the PC Jumpstart Program. Local High School juniors, families, staff, and community leaders gathered on campus for a heartwarming closing ceremony to honor the incredible accomplishments of this year’s dedicated cohort.

Over the course of the intensive four-week program, students participated in immersive academies focusing on high-demand regional career pathways: the new Agriculture Academy, the Drone Academy, the Business Academy, and the Pre-First Responders Academy. From preparing for FAA Part 107 drone pilot operations to mastering modern agricultural technology, learning essential business and leadership skills, and earning life-saving first aid certifications, these rising stars spent their summer growing both personally and professionally.

Beyond classroom and hands-on training on campus, this year’s participants stepped out into the field. Students took exciting industry trips, developed vital career skills, and built valuable, lifelong memories alongside peers and mentors.

The highlight of the closing ceremony was recognizing the hard work and growth demonstrated by every single participant. Students were presented with well-deserved award certificates recognizing their achievements, industry certifications, and leadership qualities throughout the program.

To top off their achievements, each student received a program stipend check in recognition of their successful completion of the internship. By combining practical skills, real-world experience, industry certifications, and direct financial compensation, the program continues to empower Central Valley youth to invest in their own futures.

Made possible through a strong regional partnerships and administered by Porterville College, the PC Jumpstart Program has once again proven to be a vital bridge connecting high school students directly to local industry and higher education success.
