March Athletes of the Month Shine Bright!

Porterville College Athletics is thrilled to announce our March Female and Male Athletes of the Month, recognizing outstanding achievements and dedication in their respective sports.

Maria Angelita Etrata – Track & Field and Tennis

Maria Angelita has had an exceptional March, showcasing her versatility and talent in both Track & Field and Tennis. On the track, Maria demonstrated her prowess in the javelin throw, earning second place at the American River College Beaver Invite with a mark of 28.93 m (94' 11") and then soaring to first place at the Dave Shannon Invitational with an even better throw of 29.13 m (95'7").

Adding to her impressive accomplishments, Maria has also qualified for the State Tennis Championships in both singles and doubles, a remarkable feat! Her stellar performance on the court also earned her CVC All-Conference honors. Congratulations, Maria, on an outstanding month!

Jimmy Martinez – Baseball

Jimmy had a phenomenal month on the baseball diamond, leading the Pirates with his consistent hitting and offensive contributions. Over thirteen games in March, Jimmy batted an impressive .400, racking up 8 walks, 6 RBI, and 9 runs, along with 3 doubles and 1 home run. His keen eye at the plate resulted in an excellent on-base percentage of .484, and his power hitting contributed to a strong slugging percentage of .509. Way to go, Jimmy!
