On Thursday, April 30, 2026, the Porterville College Cafeteria served as the backdrop for a significant milestone as students, families, and community partners gathered for the MESA & PASO End of the Year Celebration. The event honored the achievements of participants in both the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) program and the Porterville Access, Success, and Opportunities (PASO) program. Under the theme "Commitment Creates Momentum," the ceremony recognized the resilience and academic journeys of these dedicated students.

Reagen Dozier, Director of Student Success Programs and MESA Coordinator, opened the evening by welcoming the community and providing an overview of the MESA Scholars and PASO Explorers programs. Attendees heard directly from the students through representatives Luis Ambriz Aguado and Thania Cisneros, who shared their personal experiences within the programs. The ceremony also highlighted the vital role of community partners, including the Association of American University Women and representatives from the USDA and the Tule River Tribe Education Department.

A key highlight of the program involved the presentation of the MESA Excellence Awards. Award recipients included Reid Lowery, Jaasiel Hernandez, Farhaude Alrafi, and Jair Ramirez, while Yadhira Andrade was honored with the Student Choice Award. Additionally, PASO Explorers were awarded Excellence Medals for academic performance and perseverance.

The evening concluded with students receiving Cords & Stoles. By providing specialized support and mentorship, MESA and PASO continue to empower students to become the leaders of tomorrow.
