Learn More About Social Science (AA)
The Social Science Associate in Arts degree is intended to train students in a variety of methods and expose them to diverse perspectives in understanding and appreciating the human condition in the past, present, and future. The Social Science Division’s core disciplines of Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, Geography, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology encourage students to investigate human existence from a variety of theoretical, methodological, and cross-cultural perspectives. Students intending to transfer to a four-year institution will find that this general background will prepare them for upper-division coursework in any of the disciplines within the degree, or that it will serve as an intellectual foundation for coursework in other disciplines. This preparation provides a solid foundation for critical thinking and understanding suited to a variety of careers.
