Flyer Posting Guidelines
Porterville College has developed guidelines to govern the hanging of posters and flyers around campus. These guidelines are intended to:
- Facilitate greater campus community engagement and better communication of campus events.
- Keep the college’s buildings clean and in good condition
- Ensure consistency with college standards for publications
- Comply with relevant College policies and procedures
Porterville College defines a “poster” or “flyer” as any form of print publicity--with no regard to size, shape, or content--that is displayed in a public area. Outside businesses or organizations (not affiliated with the college) wanting to post on campus must submit their flyer for review by the Office of Communications & Community Relations.
Posting Guidelines
All posters or flyers must adhere to the following guidelines regardless of affiliation
The name of the originating office or organization must be clearly indicated on the poster or flyer.
Campus Representatives may refuse to post content which is:
- Libelous
- Advocates the use of illegal drugs or alcohol
- Or advocates any activity that would disrupt Porterville College from performing its stated objectives as outlined in the California State Education Code and the Kern Community College District Board of Trustees Regulations and Policies.
- Outside businesses or organizations (not affiliated with the college) wanting to post on campus must submit their flyer for review by the Office of Communications & Community Relations. Please leave flyers with a staff member at the Porterville College Welcome Center in the Academic Center Building.
- Materials that do not adhere to this policy will be removed
Hanging Guidelines
- Designated Bulletin boards shall be used for posting (please see map below). Use thumbtacks, staples, and/or tape to place posters and flyers on bulletin boards. The use of any other type of adhesive and/or anchoring device is not permitted under any circumstances.
- Only one poster or flyer for any event or department is allowed on each bulletin board.
- Posters and flyers may not be posted on top of any existing materials on the college’s bulletin boards.
- The posting organization, department, or individual is responsible for removing all posters and flyers within a timely manner of the conclusion of the publicized event. Please note--campus representatives may remove outdated/expired, weathered, torn, or vandalized materials.
- Campus representatives should only remove posters or flyers if the poster is in clear violation of any of the regulations mentioned above.
- Student postings are expected to adhere to the guidelines of the Standards of Student Conduct.
Process Oversight
- Campus representatives may include individuals from Student Services, Communications & Community Relations, or other representatives assigned.
- This process does not supersede any KCCD board policy or administrative procedure including those listed below:
