Porterville College Application Steps
A step-by-step guide for ESL students applying to Porterville College
Step 1
- Go to portervillecollege.edu and go to Admissions & Records - New Students
Step 2
- Click Step 1: Apply Now!
Step 3
- Click Create an Account

Step 4
- Make sure to have an email account already created.
- Select Begin Creating My Account

Step 5
- Enter your legal name as it appears on official documents, such as your government issued ID.
- Check the box if you do not have a middle name
- Next, Enter your Date of Birth

Step 6
- Click if you have a Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number
- If you do have a Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number, enter the number below
- If you do not have a Social Security Number or a Taxpayer Identification Number, check the box below
- Click Continue

Step 7
- Enter your email address
- Re-enter email address to confirm that the address is correct
- Enter your telephone number
- If applicable, enter a second telephone number

Step 8
- Enter your permanent address
- Click Continue

Step 9
- Create a Username and Password
- Next, create a 4-digit PIN Number for your account

Step 10
- Choose and answer three security questions for your account
- Next, check the box I’m not a robot
- Click Create My Account

Step 11
- Make sure to write down your CCCID
- Next, Select Continue to be directed to the Porterville College application
- If you are not directed to the Porterville College application, please refer to Step 11-A below

Step 11-A
- Go to openccc.net and select Sign In to Open CCC
- Next, Enter your username and password that was previously created

Step 12
- In Enrollment Information, Select the term that you are applying for
- Next, Select Improve Basic Skills for Educational Goal
- Next, Select a major or program of study that pertains to the desired interest

Step 13
- In Current Mailing Address, Check the first box if your mailing address is the same as your permanent address
that was entered in your OpenCCC account
- If your mailing address is different from your permanent address, enter below

Step 14
- In College Enrollment Status section, Select First-time student in college (after leaving high school) for new students who never attended college

Step 15
- In the High School Education section, Select Not a graduate of, and no longer enrolled in high school for students who never attended high school or Currently enrolled in adult school if the student is currently attending adult school
- Next, In the Last High School Attended section, Select I did not attend high school and was not homeschooled

Step 16
- In the Citizenship section, choose the appropriate status:
- U.S. Citizen (if you are a U.S. Citizen)
- Other (if you are not a U.S. Citizen and do not have a Social Security Number)
- If you select Other, check the box that says no documents

Step 17
- In the U.S. Military/Dependent of Military section, choose the appropriate status
- Select None apply to me, if none are applicable
- Select Continue

Step 18
- In the California Residence section, select:
- Yes if you have lived in California for the amount of time stated
- No if you have not lived in California for the amount of time stated
- In the Out-of-State Activities section, leave blank if none pertain to you
- In Special Residency Categories section, select no if you have not been in court-ordered foster care
- Select Continue

Step 19
- In the Main Language section, Select:
- No if you are not comfortable with reading and writing in English
- Yes if you are comfortable with reading and writing in English
- In the Financial Assistance section, Select:
- Yes if you are interested in receiving information about money for college
- Yes/No if you are receiving TANF/CalWORKs, SSI, or General Assistance
- In the Athletic Interest section, Select whether you are interested in participating in sports while attending college

Step 20
- In the Programs and Services section, Check the boxes in which you are interested
- Select Continue

Step 21
- In the Gender/Transgender section, select a gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation that
identifies with you
- You can also select Decline to state
- In the Parent/Guardian Education Levels, Select the education levels of the parents and/or guardians
- If unsure, select Unknown

Step 22
- In the Race/Ethnicity section, Check the box that corresponds to the race, ethnicity, nation, or ancestry group you identify with
- Select Continue

Step 23
- In the Supplemental Questions section, check all that apply to you
- Select Continue

Step 24
- In the Submission section, Be sure to read and consent before you submit your application by selecting Submit My Application
- Once application has been submitted, Select Continue

Step 25
- Select, Step 3: Create Your College Account Now

Step 26
- In the Account Recovery section, Select and answer a security question

Step 27
- In the Verification section, read and check all the boxes below
- Select Submit

Step 28
- After submitting the application, you should receive your student ID that begins with the @ symbol and your student email address
