1. Is counseling available on campus?
Yes, Porterville College offers six free counseling sessions via a Wellness Counselor to enrolled students. Counseling sessions take place on and off campus via telephone or Zoom meeting. Another option for students is PC TimelyCare. TimelyCare is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for emotional support, medical support, basic needs, and self-care resources. The best part is that it's free for Porterville College students.
2. What can I talk to a counselor about?
Stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, time management, identity, or any emotional or educational concerns.
3. How do I make an appointment?
A mental health clinician is available to meet with students via appointment. Please call 559-791-2329 to schedule your appointment today.
4. Is it confidential?
Yes, your information is private (with few legal exceptions).
5. What if I need long-term therapy or medication?
Porterville College mental health clinicians can refer you to community providers for ongoing or specialized care.
6. Can I just go once?
Absolutely, even a single session can be helpful; you don’t need a long-term commitment.
7. What if I’m in crisis?
Student Health and Wellness is not a crisis center. For immediate help on campus, please call campus safety or use the 988 Mental Health Crisis Line or call 911 for Emergency Services.
