Complete the Probation or Disqualification Orientation again if you took a year or more off.
Probation First Time
Students may register for summer and fall courses following the recommendation of a counselor.
- Complete the Online Probation Orientation before meeting with a counselor via the link: https://launch.comevo.com/portervillecollege/probation
- If not completed by the time of the appointment, students may complete it after the appointment.
- Complete an admission Update Form online before the Priority Registration date
- Meet with a counselor to develop an Academic Improvement Plan and remove your registration hold for the next semester
- You are eligible to enroll in a maximum of 12 units
- Reminder: schedule an appointment to complete or update your Comprehensive Student Education Plan (CSEP) as recommended by the counselor
- Schedule a follow up appointment a month after the start of each semester by September in the Fall and February in the Spring semester
Probation Second Time
Students are cleared to register for one semester at a time, Summer, Fall or Spring semester. Once Summer grades are posted, schedule an appointment with a counselor to discuss your academic standing and enrollment for the Fall semester courses.
- Complete an admission Update Form online before the Open Registration date
- Your instructor(s) will complete a Progress Report form the 11th week of the semester (Fall 2025, November 3-7 / Spring 2026, April 6-10)
- Meet with a counselor to develop an Academic Improvement Plan (the counselor will review the Progress Report submitted by each of your instructors)
- The probation hold will be removed if your Progress Report indicates a letter grade of C or better in all courses. If any of your grades are below a C grade, the counselor will have you schedule an appointment after the end of the semester once your grades are posted.
- You are eligible to enroll in a maximum of 12 units
- Registration for the subsequent semester will be blocked until you meet with a counselor
- Schedule an appointment to complete or update Comprehensive Student Education Plan (CSEP)
Probation Continued
Same as Probation Second Time Policy (see above).
Disqualified
If you registered prior to grades being posted and did not meet academic progress and is on disqualification status, you will be dropped from the courses. Students cannot enroll immediately after being disqualified based on academic policy as stated below:
- If your cumulative GPA is below 1.0 or your completion rate is 25% or lower, you need to stay out two semesters immediately after being disqualified (fall and spring or spring and fall)
- If your cumulative GPA is between 1.0 and 1.99 or your completion rate is between 26% and 50%, you need to stay out one semester immediately after being disqualified (fall or spring)
Next Steps
Obtain a Petition for Readmission from the Counseling & Advising Center or on the website and schedule an appointment with a counselor.
- Schedule an appointment in person at the Counseling & Advising Center and obtain Petition for Readmission form (also available online)
- Complete the Disqualification Orientation before the appointment with the counselor. You can access the orientation via the link: https://launch.comevo.com/portervillecollege/probation
- Students must meet with a counselor in advance to allow for enough time to complete enrollment process
- Appointments are available starting the second week of the semester (if planning to enroll in late start semester courses)
- Complete an admission Update Form online before meeting with a counselor
- Bring completed Petition for Readmission to your appointment
- You will develop an Academic Improvement Plan and a comprehensive SEP with the counselor and your petition will be reviewed by the counselor and the Readmission Committee if needed
Readmitted
Welcome back to Porterville College!
- You are eligible to attend either Fall or Spring semester
- You are eligible to a maximum of 7 units
Readmitted Students: Registration for the Following Semester
If you were previously disqualified and readmitted for the current semester, you will wait for the grades to be posted and then schedule a counseling appointment to discuss your academic standing with your counselor:
- If you make academic progress, you will be placed on Probation Continued and approved to enroll for the following semester (limited to 12 units). Refer to Probation Continued policy for more details.
- If you do not meet academic progress, you will be disqualified again and will not be allowed to enroll for the next semester or two (fall and/or spring) based on GPA and completion rate (refer to the academic standing policy)
Repeating a Course
If repeating a course, discuss it with a counselor for more information.
If a student earns any combination of “D,” “F,” or “W” on two attempts in a course taken in the Kern Community College District, that student can only register for a third time with the signature of the Instructor of the course and the Division Chair of the department on a Prerequisite and Repetition of Course approval form available online.
The form is available on the Admissions and Records website under Important Forms.
